Equipment

  • Medium-sized bowl
  • Fork
  • Electric mixer hand mixer works perfectly
  • Serving dish
  • Airtight container

Ingredients

Main ingredients

  • 2 overripe bananas mashed, the riper, the sweeter and more flavorful
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened, nice and soft so it blends smoothly
  • 0.33 cup brown sugar packed, for caramel-like sweetness
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract boosts warm flavors
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon for cozy flavor
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground nutmeg adds warmth and complexity
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt balances sweetness and brings out flavors
  • 0.25 cup toasted chopped walnuts or pecans optional, for crunch and nutty flavor

Instructions

  • Mash your overripe bananas in a medium-sized bowl until they’re smooth and lump-free.
    2 overripe bananas
  • Add the softened butter, packed brown sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt to the bowl with the mashed bananas.
    2 overripe bananas
  • Beat the mixture on medium speed with an electric mixer until everything is thoroughly combined and looks wonderfully creamy and smooth.
    2 overripe bananas
  • If using, gently stir in the toasted chopped walnuts or pecans, folding them in so they’re distributed evenly.
    2 overripe bananas
  • Spoon your Banana Bread Butter into a serving dish or airtight container and refrigerate until nice and firm, about 1-2 hours.

Notes

Toasting nuts: spread them on a baking sheet and bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 5-8 minutes, watching them closely until fragrant and lightly browned. Let them cool before chopping.
