Carolina Mustard Barbecue Sauce

Instructions
In a medium saucepan, combine the apple cider vinegar, yellow mustard, and water.
Add the brown sugar, hot sauce, black pepper, and salt.
Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
Reduce heat to low and let the sauce simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until it has thickened slightly.
Stir occasionally to prevent sticking and burning.
Taste and adjust seasonings as needed, adding more hot sauce for heat, brown sugar for sweetness, or salt to taste.
Remove from heat and let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
This recipe can be easily doubled or tripled. Store leftover sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
