Instructions
Preheat waffle iron according to manufacturer's instructions.
In a large bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients (ing_1, ing_2, ing_3, ing_4, ing_5, ing_6).
In a separate bowl, whisk together the wet ingredients (ing_7, ing_8, ing_9, ing_10).
Gently fold the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just combined. Do not overmix.
Stir in the shredded smoked gouda cheese (ing_11).
Lightly grease the preheated waffle iron. Pour ¼ cup of batter onto the hot surface of the waffle iron for each bite.
Cook according to waffle iron instructions, until golden brown and crispy. This usually takes 2-3 minutes.
Serve immediately, drizzled with honey (ing_12) and garnished with fresh thyme (ing_13).
Notes
For extra flavor, try adding a pinch of cayenne pepper to the batter.
