Golden & Glorious Brussels Sprouts Gratin

A creamy, cheesy, and crispy Brussels sprouts gratin that is easy to make and a guaranteed crowd-pleaser.

  • 2 pounds Brussels sprouts Trimmed tough ends and cut in half
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter Melted
  • Salt To taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper To taste
  • 1 cup coarse fresh bread crumbs Homemade from day-old white bread is preferred
  • 0.25 cup finely grated Gruyère cheese
  • 1.25 cups heavy cream Room temperature

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a large bowl, toss the halved Brussels sprouts with melted butter, salt, and pepper. Ensure each sprout is coated.

  • Spread the seasoned Brussels sprouts in a single layer in your baking dish.

  • In a smaller bowl, combine the coarse bread crumbs and grated Gruyère cheese.

  • Pour the room-temperature heavy cream evenly over the Brussels sprouts in the baking dish.

  • Sprinkle the bread crumb and cheese mixture evenly over the entire dish.

  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the sprouts are tender and the topping is golden brown and bubbly.

Notes

This gratin can be assembled ahead of time and refrigerated. Add a few extra minutes to the baking time if doing so. Avoid freezing as it can affect texture.
