Key Lime Pie Trifle

A refreshing and easy-to-make dessert combining the flavors of key lime pie in a layered trifle.

Ingredients
  

Crust

  • 1.5 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 0.25 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 0.25 cup sugar

Key Lime Filling

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened 1 package
  • 0.5 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 0.5 cup key lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon lime zest

Other Ingredients

  • 3.4 oz instant vanilla pudding mix 1 package
  • 2 cups cold milk
  • 2 cups whipped cream (or whipped topping)
  • Fresh lime slices and zest for garnish

Instructions
 

  • Prepare the crust: Combine graham cracker crumbs, melted butter, and sugar in a bowl. Press into the bottom of your trifle bowl.
  • Make the key lime filling: In a separate bowl, beat together softened cream cheese, sweetened condensed milk, key lime juice, and lime zest until smooth and creamy.
  • Prepare the pudding: In a large bowl, whisk together the instant vanilla pudding mix and cold milk until smooth and thickened. Let it sit for a few minutes to set.
  • Layer the trifle: Spread half of the key lime filling over the graham cracker crust. Top with half of the prepared pudding.
  • Add whipped cream: Spread half of the whipped cream over the pudding layer.
  • Repeat layers: Repeat layers with the remaining key lime filling, pudding, and whipped cream.
  • Chill and garnish: Refrigerate the trifle for at least 2 hours to allow the flavors to meld and the pudding to set completely. Garnish with fresh lime slices and zest before serving.

Notes

For a richer flavor, use full-fat cream cheese and milk. You can also add a layer of crushed meringue cookies for extra texture.
