Equipment

  • Toaster or broiler, or skillet

Ingredients

Main ingredients

  • 1 cup cottage cheese full-fat recommended for creaminess
  • 2 slices crusty bread toasted, e.g., sourdough, rustic whole wheat, baguette
  • 2 pears sliced, ripe but firm, e.g., Bosc or Anjou
  • 2 tablespoons honey good quality
  • fresh thyme for garnish
  • salt to taste
  • pepper to taste, freshly ground

Instructions

  • First things first, get your bread nicely toasted. You can pop it in the toaster, under the broiler, or even crisp it up in a skillet. We want a good, sturdy base.
    1 cup cottage cheese
  • Once your bread is toasty, it's time for the creamy goodness. Spread that cottage cheese evenly over each slice. Don't be shy!
    1 cup cottage cheese
  • Now, artfully arrange your pear slices on top of the cottage cheese. Try to overlap them a little – it looks so pretty!
    1 cup cottage cheese
  • Drizzle that lovely honey over the pears. Let it cascade down – it's part of the charm!
    1 cup cottage cheese
  • Sprinkle a few fresh thyme leaves over the top. The aroma alone is enough to make your kitchen smell amazing.
    1 cup cottage cheese
  • Finally, a little pinch of salt and a grind of fresh pepper. Taste and adjust if you like!
    1 cup cottage cheese

Notes

These tartines are best enjoyed immediately. To store leftovers, assemble and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours, though the bread may soften.
