Prep Time 2 minutes
Cook Time 3 minutes
Servings 1 serving

Equipment

  • Microwave-safe mug Standard-sized, about 10-12 ounces. Avoid mugs with metal trim.
  • Fork For mixing ingredients.
  • Oven mitts Recommended for handling the hot mug.

Ingredients

Dough Ingredients

  • 6 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 0.125 teaspoon salt
  • 0.0625 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.125 teaspoon baking powder
  • 5 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Toppings

  • 1.5 tablespoons prepared pizza sauce Use your favorite!
  • 2.5 tablespoons shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 0.0625 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 6 slices mini pepperoni Or as many as your heart desires!

Instructions

  • Mix the dry ingredients: Grab your favorite microwave-safe mug. Add the flour, salt, baking soda, and baking powder. Give it a quick whisk with a fork to combine everything evenly.
    6 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • Add the wet ingredients: Pour in the water and the olive oil. Stir everything together with your fork until you have a smooth, thick batter. Make sure there are no dry pockets of flour left.
    6 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • First Microwave Round: Pop that mug into the microwave and cook on high for 1 minute. This will start to cook our "crust."
  • Prepare for Toppings: Carefully remove the hot mug from the microwave. I like to use oven mitts for this step, just in case!
  • Sauce it Up: Spread the prepared pizza sauce evenly over the top of the cooked batter.
    6 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • Cheese, Please! Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese generously over the sauce.
    6 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • Seasoning Sprinkle: Dust the Italian seasoning over the cheese. This adds that lovely herby fragrance.
    6 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • Pepperoni Power: Arrange your mini pepperoni slices on top. I like to make sure they're spread out so each bite gets a little bit of everything.
    6 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • Second Microwave Round: Place the mug back into the microwave and cook on high for another 1 to 1 ½ minutes. You're looking for the pizza to be cooked through and the cheese to be wonderfully melted and bubbly. Keep an eye on it!
  • Cool and Enjoy: Carefully remove the mug again. Let it cool for just a minute or two so you don't burn your mouth – that hot pizza goodness is worth the wait!

Notes

This recipe is for a fluffy, cake-like 'crust' cooked in a mug. It's not a traditional chewy pizza dough, but offers all the pizza flavors quickly. Microwaves vary, so keep an eye on your pizza during the second heating. Use a standard-sized microwave-safe mug (10-12 ounces).
