Slow Cooker BBQ Chicken

An incredibly easy and delicious slow cooker recipe for tender, shredded BBQ chicken with a smoky, sweet, and tangy sauce, perfect for busy weeknights or any time you crave a taste of summer.

  • 3 lbs Boneless, Skinless Chicken Breasts Can also use chicken thighs
  • 1.5 cups BBQ Sauce Your favorite brand
  • 0.5 medium Onion Grated, with juice
  • 1 Tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 Tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • 2 Tbsp Brown Sugar

Instructions
 

  • Place boneless, skinless chicken breasts into your slow cooker.

  • In a separate bowl, whisk together BBQ sauce, grated onion (with juice), olive oil, Worcestershire sauce, and brown sugar until well combined.

  • Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken in the slow cooker, ensuring it's evenly coated.

  • Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours, or on high for 2-3 hours, until the chicken is cooked through and tender.
  • Once cooked, shred the chicken directly in the slow cooker using two forks. Stir to coat the shredded chicken with the sauce.

Notes

For a thicker sauce, remove the lid for the last 30 minutes of cooking on high. Can be prepped ahead by freezing chicken and sauce together.
