Southern Banana Cobbler

Ingredients
  

Topping

  • 0.75 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 0.5 cup self-rising flour
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter, softened (1 stick)
  • 1 cup uncooked old-fashioned oats
  • 0.5 cup chopped pecans

Filling

  • 1 cup self-rising flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 teaspoon banana extract (optional)
  • 0.5 cup melted butter (1 stick)
  • 4 ripe bananas, sliced

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • In a large bowl, combine the topping ingredients (ing_1, ing_2, ing_3, ing_4, ing_5) until crumbly.
  • In a separate bowl, mash the bananas (ing_11).
  • Add the remaining filling ingredients (ing_6, ing_7, ing_8, ing_9, ing_10) to the mashed bananas and mix well.
  • Pour the banana filling into the prepared baking dish.
  • Crumble the topping evenly over the filling.
  • Bake for 45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  • Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
