Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 6 ounces shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 jalapeño pepper, minced (or to taste)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease and flour a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar, garlic powder, and salt.

  • Stir in shredded cheddar cheese and minced jalapeño into the dry ingredients.

  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, and melted butter.

  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.

  • Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread evenly.
  • Bake for 40-50 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then invert onto a wire rack to cool completely.
